News about our merger with NCVO, Nominet Trust funding, events and training.

by WEditor last modified Oct 14, 2011 02:10 PM

Dear friend of KnowHow,

There's lots going on at KnowHow these days. Here's a round up of what we're up to, what some of our close associates are up to - and what it all means to you.

NCVO merger

At the end of October we will officially merge with NCVO. We've been working closely with them throughout the summer and look forward to moving in to their offices in King's Cross.

This means leaving our current home at Cass Business School's Centre for Charity Effectiveness, where we've made great friends and received incredible support. A huge thank you to everyone here for a wonderful three years.

We'll continue working with the Centre for Charity Effectiveness and of course NCVO to help even more people in the sector.

Nominet Trust funding for wikis

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve received a grant from the Nominet Trust to develop our wiki technology. You probably know about our ‘how-to’ wiki guides, which are all written and edited by the KnowHow community.

We’ve now been given a fantastic opportunity to open up more areas of the site for anyone to create, edit or update KnowHow learning material.

We hope to find a workable and genuinely collaborative way for the voluntary sector to share its knowledge. Look out for more on this and how you can get involved as we get closer to the launch in the New Year.

Where we're out and about

We're really excited to be attending the NCVO Trustee conference on 31 October where we'll be showing off our new board appraisal toolkit.

Next month Madeleine will be helping facilitate a workshop on digital strategy at the Media Trust Communications for a Digital World conference. Chaired by Susanna Reid keynote speakers include Jon Snow, Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP and Matt Brittin.

Hope to see some of you these events.

Get up to date with welfare reform

Do you work with people who claim benefits? Are you worried about the impact of welfare reforms? Rightsnet training offers handy 1/2 day workshops, designed to improve your understanding of recent and forthcoming changes.

Whether you choose Welfare Benefits Updater or Universal Credit and Welfare Reform Bill workshop, you will come away with a range of tips, tricks and strategies for working with the new system. You'll ensure your clients receive the support they need.

The next sessions are on 19 October. Visit the Rightsnet website for more details.

StudyZone requests

StudyZone - our video training library - is going from strength to strength and as it's grown we've been developing your suggestions into training courses. Recent examples include Getting Great Press and Managing Change.

We're already working on many of your current requests so why not suggest a new one yourself? Is there a piece of training that could really help you do your job better? Perhaps a member of your team could really benefit from learning about a particular topic?

Whatever you're interested in, we'll try to help. Follow the link below and tell us in a sentence what you (or your team) need training on. We’ll do our best to deliver.
