Who are Ecclesiastical?

Ecclesiastical has been insuring not for profit organisations for almost 125 years and insure thousands of UK charities, not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises of all shapes and sizes.

Ecclesiastical’s mission is ‘to advise and protect those who enrich the lives of others’, and they’re well known for their practical risk management advice to help charities operate safely.

They produce regular guidance including this recent guide to public liability (PDF, 1.4Mb).

Owned by a charity themselves, they give back all available profits to charity, so have a unique understanding and empathy with the sector. They’ve also been voted the best insurer for charities by charities and insurance brokers alike for five years running.

About the KnowHow NonProfit – Ecclesiastical partnership

In order to extend their support to the sector, Ecclesiastical wanted to help provide advice on wider charity issues. After meeting with the KnowHow team, they felt that the best way to do this would be to get behind the KnowHow site and make sure we continue to deliver top-class learning material.

In addition to providing funding to help us deliver our work, Ecclesiastical will also work with us to develop new content in crucial areas such as charity insurance and risk management.

What you can look forward to...

We'll kickstart our new partnership with Ecclesiastical by developing an online risk assessment toolkit for charities. This will be available through our StudyZone. We'll let you know more about this as the project progresses.

We'll also be asking you what kind of help and advice you need in the area of risk, insurance and liability, so please give us your ideas.

And keep your eyes peeled for a series of short information videos from Ecclesiastical on different areas of risk management, starting with something on winter risks. We'll be sharing these for free with you over the coming months.
